3 DAYS Mikumi & Udzungwa from Zanzibar
Mikumi is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park. It’s also the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. With almost guaranteed wildlife sightings, it makes an ideal safari destination for those without much time. Udzungwa alone among the ancient ranges of the Eastern Arc has been accorded national park status. It is also unique within Tanzania in that its closed-canopy forest spans altitudes of 250 metres (820 feet) to above 2,000 metres (6,560 ft) without interruption.
DAY 1
First ferry from Zanzibar depart 07:00 am, meet & greet in Dar Es Salaam at 08:30 am and drive to Mikumi & check-in at the camp and depart for afternoon game drive with hot lunch. Overnight Camp Bastian Mikumi (Lunch & Dinner)
DAY 2
Hiking in Udzungwa – Sanje Waterfalls – after breakfast, drive to the park gate and start hiking into the superb primary forest to the base and then the top of the spectacular 180m Sanje Waterfall looking for primates on the way (Iringa Red Colobus and Sanje Mangabey).
Swim in plunge pools, see endemic African Violets growing in the spray zones and have lunch in the forest on the top of the falls. Descend after enjoying superb views. Later drive to Camp Bastian Mikumi
DAY 3
After breakfast, short morning game drive until 10:00 am and drive back to Dar Es Salaam with a lunchbox and drop off in Dar Es Salaam airport for 19:30 flight to Zanzibar (Breakfast & Lunch)
