13 DAYS Selous Mikumi Ruaha Morogoro Saadani
This Southern circuit safari to Selous Game Reserve, Mikumi National Park, Ruaha National Park, Morogoro & Saadani National Park
Day 1: Drive from Dar Es Salaam - Selous Game Reserve
Pick up 08:20 am at the airport, and drive to the Selous (4-5 hrs).
You will take part in an afternoon boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. Where you can see plenty of hippos, crocodiles and bird life. Overnight at the Selous Kinga Lodge. All meals included.
Day 2: Selous Game Reserve
You will participate in walking safaris, game drives private in Selous Game Reserve and boating safaris, Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary, with an area of 54.600kms – bigger than Denmark and 4 times the size of Serengeti!.
Selous has the world’s largest number of large game animals – elephant, buffalo, and rhino. It also contains wildebeest, eland, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, impala, hippo, leopard and lion, not to mention over 350 species of birds. Dinner and overnight stay at the Selous Kinga Lodge. All meals included.
Day 3: Selous Game Reserve
Early morning foot safari looking for close encounters with visiting near village return to the camp for breakfast, after breakfast set off by 4×4 on game drive across the Selous Game Reserve with picnic lunch then dinner and overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge. All meals included.
Day 4: Drive from Selous Game Reserve - Mikumi National Park (5-6 hours)
In the morning you will depart to Mikumi National Park while crossing through Northern Selous. Depends arrival time – afternoon game drive. Overnight in Camp Bastian
Day 5: Mikumi National Park
Full day of game drives in the Mikumi. Overnight in Camp Bastian. Whilst on safari, you can see a rich variety of bird species, as well as large numbers of giraffe, buffalo and elephants. If you are lucky you may also be able to spot lions, leopards and African wild dogs. Likely to be seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland and antelope
Day 6: Drive to Ruaha National Park (5-6 hours)
After breakfast, depart for Ruaha National Park, having lunch en-route.
By afternoon you will have reached the Tandala Tented Camp. There are many types of different birds, wild flowers, butterflies and trees that can be seen nearby.Dinner and overnight at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge. All meals included.
Day 7-8: Ruaha National Park
Two full days of game driving at Ruaha National Park, with picnic lunches. Ruaha has an area of 10,300 sq km, and is the second largest park, and second largest elephant sanctuary in Tanzania. The great Ruaha River that flows along its entire eastern border creates spectacular gorges and scenery, and features a large number of hippos and crocodiles. The wide variety of animals that inhabit the park include both Greater and Lesser Kudu, roan and sable antelope. Bird life is also rich, with over 370 species recorded. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge. All meals included.
Day 9: Transfer to Morogoro - Mbuyuni Farm Restreat
This morning, awake again before dawn and leave the lodge this time on foot to explore the surrounding area and the smaller flora and fauna often missed on a game drive. Return to camp for a late breakfast after breakfast drive to Morogoro up Mbuyuni Farm Retreat for dinner and overnight .
Mbuyuni Farm Retreat offers a relaxing country experience. There are three bungalows, each for a family of up to four, are located in a quiet and peaceful setting and are surrounded by beautiful gardens. Two bungalows have kitchens for guests who prefer to cater for themselves. You are welcome to stroll around the farm and watch the activities or explore the farm’s forested areas which include many bird species. Birdwatchers have identified over 230 species so far!
Day 10: Drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park (5-6 hours)
After breakfast, start drive to the serene Saadani National Park
Saadani, with its unique location on the Indian Ocean providing the opportunity for game viewing and birdlife at the same time as enjoying fabulous white-sand beaches – perhaps you’ll be lucky and see an elephant cavorting in the waves! You’ll arrive in time for lunch. For the rest of the day you can settle into your lodge, perched right beside the ocean, fling yourself into a hammock on your private balcony, wander along the beach and relax in preparation for the forthcoming safaris. Overnight Simply Saadani Camp (lunch and dinner)
From your lodge in the camp you can climb up the viewing tower, go in a canoe up the nearby river or take a walking safari (age limit applies) following the dry sand river beds. It is quite extraordinary to find yourself on a white sand beach.
Day 11: Saadani National Park – game viewing and boat safari on Wami River
Today is full day of game viewing. The highlight of Saadani is a boat safari on the Wami River, with a profusion of coastal and riverine birdlife, and black and white Colobus monkeys frolicking in the trees beside the river. As you meander along you’ll soon see large crocodiles and hippo keeping watch from the sand banks. Overnight at Simply Saadani Camp

Day 12: Saadani National Park – game drive
After breakfast enjoy a full day game drive in Saadani – a great adventure and free from hordes of other game vehicles sharing your view. You’ll drive through high grasses and rolling hills hiding lions and elephants to the acacia plains, home to giraffe, zebra, kudu, wildebeest and antelope. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight Simply Saadani Camp

Day 13: Drive from Saadani to Bagamoyo - stone town tour, catholic church & Museum tour - later drive to Dar Es Salaam
Bagamoyo is surrounded by old buildings of the previous generation, beautiful Arab architecture with thick walls of Earth fitted with well-carved doors made of thick African hardwood. On your walk through narrow streets between Old buildings of Bagamoyo stone town you will visit the German Colonial Administrative block, Art market, Old post office, 1st Tanzania Primary School, Old Mosques, Hanging tower, Caravan Serai Museum and the fish market. On your walk along the Indian Ocean beach visit a centre for dhow sailboat building and get to know how local people build boats.
