11 Days Selous and Zanzibar
Day 1: Dar Es Salaam
Met on arrival and transfer to your hotel. Explore the cultural influences and laidback attitude of Tanzania’s former capital, Dar es Salaam – meaning ‘Haven of Peace’. Take advantage of the city’s coastline; enjoy a dip in the hotel pool and afternoon Dar Es Salaam city tour.

Day 2-4: Selous Game Reserve
Catch a local train to Selous depart 15:50 on Tuesdays and 13:50 on Fridays for an unforgettable start to this incredible African wildlife experience. Spend the next few days exploring the continent’s largest protected area of wilderness. Partake in a series of game drives to spot the famed Big Five – lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes and leopards. Then get up close to nature on an exciting walking safari. Join a boat safari to explore the reserve’s waterways. See eagles, pelicans and giant kingfishers swoop down to catch fish, watch elephants bathe and keep an eye out for cruising crocs. Don’t forget to occasionally tilt your head to the sky – there are over 400 different species of birds that glide through the air each day.
Activities: full day game drive with boat safari on Lake Tagalala, foot safari and Maasai village visit.
– 3 nights at Sable Mountain Lodge (FB)
Day 5-6: Stone town/Zanzibar
Flight depart 10:00, arrive 11:00. Oozing with charm and steeped in history, a guided tour of Zanzibar’s crumbling beauty is a must. Walk through Stone Town’s maze of narrow, cobbled streets and admire the historical buildings and exquisitely carved doors. Enjoy a glimpse of life as it was in the 19th century in this stunning World Heritage-listed site. The ‘Spice Island’ is also home to some exciting regional cuisine, so get the team together and dine on some spiced specialties.
Activities: stone town (city) tour and Prison Island tour
– 2 nights at Dhow Palace Hotel (BB)
Day 7-10: Zanzibar Beach
Set out on a guided tour of the island’s spice plantations. Pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg, among many others, were all planted here during the colonial era and continue to contribute significantly to the nation’s economy. Stretch out along the sun-blessed coastline, kayak into the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean or grab a mask and snorkel and dive into the colorful underwater world.
– 2 nights BB at Dhow INN PAJE (BB)
– 2 nights HB at The Zanzibari Boutique Hotel, Nungwi (HB)
Day 11: Zanzibar Ferry
After breakfast transfer to Zanzibar ferry and connect 12:30 Ferry back to Dar Es Salaam and on arrival picked up and transfer to Dar Es Salaam airport to connect your flight.
